Welcome to our Food/Lifestyle Blog. This blog is run by myself Jayde and my mother Sue. I will be the one writing Majority of our posts but I am sure mum will give it crack one day when we find something she is very excited about and would like to talk to about. We are a small family of 4 living in QLD Australia who love our food.

The aim of our blog is share our recipes, share any tips tricks we pick up along the way, and share our thoughts of different products and snacks that hit the shelves in Australia.

Since as long as I remember Mum and I have always cooked and baked together, trying out new recipes, cake mixes and snacks. I couldn’t wait to get home from school to see what new snack Mum and Dad had found for my brother and I to try, or what new flavour creation mum and I were going to bake together. Food has always brought us together as family, giving is something to do together and share, all of us are always on the look out for new snacks to try, but mum and I are constantly busy in the kitchen trying out different recipes, cake mixes and combining weird and wonderful things together to see what we can create.

In 2019 we started making Instagram posts posting pictures of what our latests creations were to share with the world. Then in 2022 we started creating Instagram Reels and videos from TikTok and we now have 2.3K followers on TikTok while trying to post 2-3 times a week to keep active and to grow out accounts. We feel the next step in our Journey is starting this Blog. It will allow us to connect more with our community and share more about cooking, recipes and our Journey.

After regularly posting on social media, and a few months after my 18th birthday in 2022 I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. At first I found it hard, I was being told different things by different doctors about how my lifestyle and diet needed to change. The thing that scared me the most was getting told I should not eat most of my favourite foods. My diet would be restricted to salads and yogurt for eternity, and I was terrified. Like I said I had grown up trying weird and wonderful snacks with mum my whole life and baking in the kitchen, now for life to be restricted to carrots sticks what an utter nightmare and meant loosing my bonding time with mum.

So I did my research and found what works best for is a balance and having everything in moderation, along with paying attention to my Carb Counting and Insulin timing. And with that I have enjoyed my life and food while continuing to grow our community and now share not only our delicious recipes and snack finds but also my journey being a type 1 diabetic with PCOS and how I balance food, work and gym while remaining healthy. They key in my case is having an amazing support system, my Mum who was willing to change her diet with me when I got diagnosed and has done research and helped support me while I am finding my own way not only in adult hood being in my 20s but also with health journey.

We both look forward to posting more on social media, and now posting blogs to be able to better interact with out community. If you have any questions you would like to ask us, a product or recipe you would like us to try contact us via social media or via the ‘contact us’ link at the top of the page. We look forward to interacting with you all 😊
