So I don’t know about you guys but I always forget about April fools day until my feed is blessed with some new weird and wonderful food or snack a brand is coming out with, (We are looking at McDonalds with the McPickle burger 😉)
Well after Arnott’s bought out their delicious chocolate Jatz block in 2019 my mind was blown. I have never thought of sweet and savoury the same since, I swear chocolate can go with everything. Then in 2023 I get JATZ TIM TAMS!!! Appear on my Facebook page and I have never been so excited I remember I called Mum to tell her I was so excited!! Then I go to the comments to see when these delicious treats will be hitting shelves and more importantly my taste buds. Just as I remember it is in fact April fools day and my world is shattered.
I will never be able to look at or appreciate a Tim Tam the same way.
Fast forward a year, and the same thing comes up on my feed, Jatz Tim Tams. Just as I am beginning to forgive Arnott’s for this betrayal, they tease me again! What did I do to deserve this? Except it keeps appearing. Then it’s on all the coming soon product pages. I refused to get my hopes up. There is no way. Could it be true?
Then we see people with them actually in their hands?! Like there is no way this is still part of the joke, can I start to believe now? YES!!! YES I COULD!!! I go to my local Coles and THERE THEY ARE!!! In all there amazing sweet and salty glory! I finally have them! I couldn’t believe it. So I rushed home, decided dinner can be whatever is in the fridge with a side of Tim Tams (or Tim Tams with a side of whatever is in the fridge).
Now. The burning question on everyone’s minds. Are they any good?
YES!! I would argue they are better than the original. I mean don’t get me wrong, original and double coated are forever in my heart and sometimes you just need that pure chocolate hit. But these. THESE. Were just something different. Still definitely a Tim Tam. But the Jatz just cut straight through the sweetness.
It is a delicious chocolate outside and middle with the amazing star of the show Jatz biscuit layers, you get a hit of chocolate that the biscuits cut straight through and then a delicious pleasant salty after taste, which cleanses your palette ready for the next one.
These are going to be so addictive, and definitely a staple in our household now. I am here for it.
Hopefully this will start a trend for other brands to bring out their April fools ideas, because we are all keen and waiting (looking at you Krispy Kreme).
